Protecting Rosen Lake & Its Community

History

Rosen Lake Ratepayers Association Mandate

Our Mandate

The mandate of the Association is to act as a concerted voice for its membership on matters directly or indirectly impacting the quality of life on/at Rosen Lake and its immediate environs.

The Association keeps property owners informed about issues or developments which occur around Rosen Lake.

However, it also works for those people who live off the lake and who use and recreate on Rosen Lake.

The Association may work as a lobbying group, when needed, to get the attention of local or provincial government agencies.

The work listed below is accomplished entirely by volunteers. The Association has six directors who serve two-year terms.

Examples of several projects taken on by the Association:

  • Testing lake water annually and reporting results to members.
  • Monitoring lake water levels and adjusting as required.
  • Maintaining the fence to prevent cattle from polluting the water.
  • We worked with the provincial government to have a light and the new right hand turning lane installed at the intersection of Highway 3 and Rosen Lake Road, in 2009.
  • Purchased and erected signs with information for protection of loons.
  • Posted informational signage on painted turtles.
  • Annual General Meeting is held once a year in August.
  • Publish newsletters as required.

We will continue to raise awareness on the best practices regarding septic use, detergent, pesticides etc. which can adversely affect the water quality. We do our best to inform residents of any important changes in the rules,

but we do not enforce any laws or regulations.

The Rosen Lake Ratepayers Association is a member funded organization.

Funds to operate the Association come from the annual dues of $20.00 paid by members of the community Rosen Lake Ratepayers Association (RLRA)

Guide for Presentations to the Board

  1. RLRA board welcomes presentations to the board but asks presenters to understand the boards limited authority regarding activities at Rosen Lake. Please adhere to the following guidelines.
  2. Requests for presentations should be made at least 2 weeks prior to a board meeting. These requests must include a brief description of the presentation and its purpose. Board meetings usually occur in the last week of the month.
  3. The board will notify the person or group regarding the scheduling of their presentation. The presentation may be at a board scheduled meeting, or some other meeting arranged by the board.
  4. Any presentation materials to be used in the presentation to the board should be submitted to the board at least one week prior to the scheduled meeting. Presentations should be about 15 minutes in length.
  5. The board will not accept presentations that seek support or endorsement of any commercial project/activity or actions requested.
  6. We expect the presentations should aim to inform the board or may be a request that the board inform members. Given the board's limited authority any presentations requesting action may require future board discussions.
